Holiday House Tour 2010 (part 2)

This year, I had the less-is-more feeling about Christmas decorations.  I have seven bins of Christmas decor, but only pulled out four of them (two of which solely house ornaments for the tree).  I did more last year, you can see it here.  I feel good about the simplicity of our ‘holiday’ home, though I may continue to tweak throughout December:)

In the foyer, I found that my favorite nativity fits perfectly under my new cloche.  The light bulb tchotchke that I made a few years ago kept the theme very simple and white.  This may not be my final draft of this table, but it’s a start.

On the mirror in the foyer, I hung the FaLaLa sign I got last year.  I have plans to make a swag of real tree trimmings to go above the mirror once I make it by Home Depot.  I love the smell of fresh trees, just not the mess.

This year, I am trying to sell my Pfaltzgraff Winterberry dishes, because I don’t feel like they are my style anymore.  After searching all over the internet for something more ‘us’, I came across these simple snowflake dishes at Target.  The best part is that I was able to just purchase salad plates and paired them with our everyday china from our wedding.  I am mixing gold (the chargers, table runner, and piller candle) and silver (the dishes and votive holders), which I think is okay for Christmas.  The table runner has snowflakes on it, so it helps tie things together even more.  I am hoping to continue to tweak this space also and make it more cohesive.

I also put out one other nativity on the bookcase in the dining room.  This one came from Africa, by way of my FIL (sorry about the poor picture quality and the streaky mirror):

I am linking to the Christmas Vignettes Party at Southern Hospitality.

I think Habitual Rearranger fits me well because I am never settled on designs, colors, or placement of items in our home. I drive Bradley crazy sometimes, but I keep figuring out new and better ways of doing things! I am not striving to be profound or an expert on anything in this blog. It is simply a way to keep a record of all of my adventures - home and life - for me to reference and also for my loved ones to follow along. I am a born and raised Georgia girl. I don't think I would enjoy living anywhere except the south. Bradley and I spent six and a half years in our starter home and are now in our forever home, a 1970s traditional two story brick house. I love getting into all kinds of projects around our house, and I try to document all the dirty details here if for no one else than for me.
