Cat Sitting…

This week, Bradley and I are cat sitting for my parents. Well, technically they are my cats, but we can’t keep them in our apartment long term, so the ‘rents keep them for me.  That said, my parents are visiting my sister and Howard in California this week, so we have two kitties running loose in our tiny apartment.

On a different note, two of my high school friends and I are planning our first high school reunion right now. 2006 was 5 years, so by the time we have the reunion planned it will no longer be the 5 year reunion. But that is okay, who cares what “year” reunion it is? We will just call them our first, second, etc. reunion.

Bradley’s cousin’s wedding was nice. It was an outdoor wedding at an old house called Hill Manor (about 5 minutes from our apartment).  Unfortunately, right as we were trying to head to the wedding, a huge pop up thunderstorm came through. Thankfully though, by the time we got there, it had blown over, and no more rain!

I am very excited because Bradley and I went to Buckhead Church last night for the first time. Because he works on staff at Apostles, he has never really been able to go to church with me the entire time I have known him. For this reason, we have decided to seek out a church that has a Sunday night service equal in depth and purpose to that of a Sunday morning service. From what I saw last night, I think we have found it. They actually broadcast the morning service on a screen, but with a live band to lead the worship, so it is basically the same as going in the morning. I was very intrigued and can’t wait to go back next week.

More Weddings!

Bradley and I went to Bodies: the Exhibition on Sunday with his brother Brett and Brett’s wife Ashley. It was so interesting, and I had to remind myself constantly that what I was seeing was real bodies.

This weekend we start up weddings again. Bradley’s cousin is getting married Saturday evening. Unfortunately, my cousin is having her one and only shower the same night. If only we could be at two places at once. But we will be able to make her wedding at the beginning of September, which is the more important thing to attend anyway!

We have also decided where to go for our anniversary. We will be visiting the nation’s capital at the end of October. The nice thing about Washington, D.C. is that so many of the things to do there are free! Great for a newlywed budget. Plus, at that time of year, hopefully the tourist rush is down, with children being back in school. That is the great thing about not having an anniversary in the summer. Hopefully any anniversary trip/ weekend getaway we take in the future will have few crowds yet still nice enough weather.

We already have our hotel booked and we thought we would drive, but Bradley has enough flyer miles for one ticket and $100 off the second. So after taking into account gas, mileage, and the $25 a day charge at the hotel to park your car there, it should be much cheaper to fly.

Our only concern is that check in time is 3 pm and check out is 11 am. Unless we can have them hold our luggage early on the first day and late on the last day, we kind of lose a half day on either end, because there will be no car there to hold all our stuff. So fingers crossed that the hotel will allow us to come by early and leave late with our bags and we should be smooth sailing!

Other than that, we are having a yard sale at my parents house in a couple of weeks. Hopefully we can make some good vacation money off it. Plus my parents will be very glad for all of my college apartment junk to go away. (now that I have nice new stuff from the wedding!)

Danielle is Married!

I am happy to announce that Bradley and I do not have another wedding to go to until August. Yeah! I like weddings, but I also like my Saturdays.

We signed a new lease for our current apartment, so we will be at the same address for another year. We also just passed our 2 year anniversary from our first date on June 12. It has been a wonderful 2 years!

This picture is from the wedding of a couple of Athens friends, Matt and Danielle.

Lane is Married!

Lane’s wedding was so beautiful this weekend.  The reception was a lot of fun, catching up with people in my home town, but overall, like any wedding participation, it was a very tiring weekend. I think Lane achieved the southern charmed reception she was going for. Everyone
seemed to really enjoy themselves.

One of the funniest moments came during the ceremony though. First of all, Lane got a little over anxious and said ‘I do’ before the minister was done with what he had planned to say…that’s ok though, we know she was excited about getting married! The second funny came when the recessional went out in the wrong order. We came in tallest to shortest and were supposed to go out shortest to tallest, but as the maid of honor and best man came to the center to meet, the tallest groomsmen also came to the middle, forcing the tallest bridesmaid to also come to the middle. Well, the trend just continued and the MOH and best man just had to stand in the center of the stage until there was an opportunity for them to walk down and out. It was just one of those awkward moments that you can’t wait to laugh at.

Lane was a beautiful bride though. Our dresses were cute, but I just don’t know how it is possible for those things to always be so uncomfortable. I am very glad that for a long while (I hope at least), I will be in the audience for future weddings instead of on stage.  I wouldn’t miss it for the world when it’s my best friend, but in all honesty it is nice to watch a wedding and not have to be conscious of what kind of look you have on your face, whether your dress is straight, or whether or not you are fidgeting. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Bachelorette Weekend

The weekend marathon of bachelorette/lingerie showers I helped plan went off without a hitch:
